The Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (MHID) is dedicated to helping the residents of Nueces County who are living with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. We serve over 10,000 people each year with psychiatric and behavioral health care outpatient services, counseling, training, employment assistance, housing support, homeless outreach, children's mental health care and more.

Salary: “Please note that the job posting rates for this position are $13.30 to $17.85, the salary offered will follow the starting salary guidelines which are typically made at or near the minimum of the salary range. However, a salary may be negotiated above the minimum range depending on applicable years of experience and qualifications.”
General Description
Under the general supervision of a registered Nurse, is responsible for providing nursing, mental health services and nursing/health care training to individuals in the ACT program. Responsible for delivery of intensive medical service, education, and rehabilitative training for consumers on the Assertive Community Treatment caseload; coordination of consumer's medical-related needs in order to maintain stability in the community and achieve independence; crisis prevention and intervention. Works as a member of a team along with others on the Assertive Community Treatment program. The job requires availability after hours, an automobile and extensive community travel for service provision, with a flexible schedule and hours.
Minimum Qualifications
CMA:
Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program. Valid Texas CMA Certification. Must have reliable transportation. May use personal vehicle to
conduct business. Must have a valid driver's license at all times, liability
insurance and a good driving record.
LVN:
Graduate from an accredited school of vocational nursing. Valid Texas LVN license. Must have reliable transportation. May use personal vehicle to conduct business. Must have a valid driver's license at all times, liability insurance and a good driving record.
Preferred: Computer literate, Bilingual Spanish/English, 1 year working in a behavioral health setting. 1 year working as a CMA/LVN.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to work with acute and/or chronically mentally ill clients long term. With Physicians and other nursing and treatment staff. Strong oral and written communication skills. Willingness to learn how to work with consumers and team members in a therapeutically oriented manner. Administers medication and observes patients for unusual symptoms and favorable or unfavorable reactions. May recommend treatment goals. Strong oral and written communication skills. Willingness to learn how to work with consumers and team members in a therapeutically oriented manner. Performs related work as assigned. Valid Texas driver's license. Ability to participate as a team member. Ability to communicate effectively. Computer literate. In the course of being employed, understands and implements trauma informed care practices.
