The Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (MHID) is dedicated to helping the residents of Nueces County who are living with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. We serve over 10,000 people each year with psychiatric and behavioral health care outpatient services, counseling, training, employment assistance, housing support, homeless outreach, children’s mental health care and more.

Hourly/Non-Exempt: $20.14

Full-Time, 40 Hour Work Week, Paid Bi-weekly

General Description

Responsible for preparing and entering accounts payable data into the accounting system. Maintains A/P files and prepares related reports. Verifies that all entries into A/P system are properly coded and have correct supporting documentation. Maintains A/P contract files, monthly billing distributions and blanket purchase order payments and files. Processes incoming Accounting Department mail. Other accounting duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum: High school graduate or GED, plus one (1) year of A/P or accounting clerical experience.

Preferred: Two (2) years of experience as AP clerk or accounting clerical experience and 15 semester hours of college level courses with 9 of those hours being accounting or business courses. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

-Detailed knowledge of Accounts Payable procedures from basic documentation and authorization to production of checks, ACH  payments, etc.

    -Knowledge of governmental purchase order requisition procedures.

    -Knowledge of standard office procedures.

    -Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures affecting the

    -Maintenance of accounting records and automated accounting systems.

    -Skill in the use of a computer and applicable software.

    -Above average skill level working in Microsoft Excel.

    -Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and other accounting software.

    -Ability to perform accurate data entry at an above average speed level.

    -Ability to maintain accurate filing.

    -In the course of being employed, understands and implements trauma informed care practices.
