The Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (MHID) is dedicated to helping the residents of Nueces County who are living with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. We serve over 10,000 people each year with psychiatric and behavioral health care outpatient services, counseling, training, employment assistance, housing support, homeless outreach, children's mental health care and more.

Salary: "Please note that the job posting rate for this position is $13.99 to $15.51, the salary offered will follow the starting salary guidelines which are typically made at or near the minimum of the salary range. However, a salary may be negotiated above the minimum range depending on applicable years of experience and qualifications."

Full-Time, 40 Hour Work Week, Paid Bi-weekly

General Description
Performs routine administrative support work for MH Adult Access Crisis programs. Work involves disseminating information, maintaining filing systems, performing internal data entry daily.  Job duties:  Processing paperwork from contracted agency each morning; meeting with consumers face-to-face to complete admission paperwork; activating cases in an electronic health record; scanning documents into the electronic health record; scheduling intake and follow-up  physician appointments and scheduling appointments with case managers for referrals from hospitals; verifying insurance, completing purchase orders and acts as back-up support staff for the Intake Unit.  This position works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.  Refers problems to a lead operator or supervisor.  Performs related work as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience in administrative support work. Graduation from an accredited high school or GED.

Must have reliable transportation. May use personal vehicle to conduct business. Must have a valid driver's license at all times, liability insurance and a good driving record.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • In the course of being employed, understands and implements trauma informed care practices.
  • Knowledge of business terminology, office practices and procedures; of spelling, punctuation, grammar and arithmetic. 
  • Skills in word-processing and excel formats.
  • Skill in the use of standard office equipment and software. 
  • Ability to make basic mathematical computations, tabulations, to maintain and prepare reports and to compose letters and memoranda. 
  • Ability to implement administrative procedures, to interpret rules, regulations, policies and procedures and to communicate effectively.
