The Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (MHID) is dedicated to helping the residents of Nueces County who are living with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. We serve over 10,000 people each year with psychiatric and behavioral health care outpatient services, counseling, training, employment assistance, housing support, homeless outreach, children's mental health care and more.

Hourly Wage: $13.30

Full-Time, 40 Hour Work Week, Paid Bi-weekly

General Description

Under the supervision of the Administrative Assistant and Youth Services Director, serves and maintains an accurate system for filing and retrieving clinical records in the most efficient and secure manner possible.  Assists with maintaining confidentiality or clinical information and security of clinical records at all times.

Performs entry level clerical work, primarily data entry. Work involves general clerical functions to include compiling and tabulating data and reports, checking documents for accuracy, data entry, and maintaining files. Work involves operating a telephone console. Will perform receptionist duties including placing, answering, and transferring local and long distant calls, receiving visitors, and providing general information. 

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma/GED education required. Experience in clerical work. Must have knowledge of filing procedures, medical terminology and be proficient in basic computer skills such as Microsoft and Word computer programs.  Ability to communicate well both verbal/written. May use personal vehicle to conduct business. Must have a valid driver's license at all times, liability insurance and a good driving record.

Preferred: Bilingual in English and Spanish 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to type accurately at least 35 wpm; computer data entry skills preferred. Ability to file accurately. Ability to meet the public and handle a fast-paced front desk setting is required. Good telephone skills required. Ability to follow directions. Must be detailed oriented. Able to work as a team member and independently. In the course of being employed, understands and implements trauma informed care practices.
