The Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (MHID) is dedicated to helping the residents of Nueces County who are living with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. Salary: "Please note that the job posting rate for this position is $24.16 to $26.79, the salary offered will follow the starting salary guidelines which are typically made at or near the minimum of the salary range. However, a salary may be negotiated above the minimum range depending on applicable years of experience and qualifications."

General Description
Under the supervision of Crisis Services Manager, this role involves conducting screenings, assessments, and crisis interventions to evaluate eligibility for crisis services, intakes, and admission to adult mental health services. It includes the completion of intake processes as appropriate, encompassing the biopsychosocial assessment, diagnostic impression, and ANSA assessment. Regular consultation and communication with the Crisis Service Manager or other available LPHA (Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts) in the clinical setting are integral to the position. The role also involves coordinating and establishing connections with both internal and external service providers based on individual needs, with a specific emphasis on facilitating the least restrictive discharge environment. This involves reviewing necessary services, providing skills training, and supporting psychosocial rehabilitation, all while monitoring consumers' progress towards their treatment goals. Additional responsibilities include delivering interventions like crisis de-escalation, case management, treatment planning, discharge planning, and administrative duties.
Intern status licensure, under the supervision of an LPHA (Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts), is responsible for completing the diagnostic evaluation for authorization and obtaining the necessary signature.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimal requirements:
- Master's degree obtained from an accredited college or university, with a major in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field connected to human behavior OR 3 years of experience in behavioral health field.
- Minimum of one year's experience working with individuals with severe mental illness(es).
- Proficiency in social and rehabilitative work.
- A valid Texas Driver's License and a clean driving record.
Preferred requirements:
- Bilingual proficiency in both English and Spanish.
- A valid license as either a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A), Licensed Clinical Social Worker Intern (LCSW-I), or Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist Associate (LMFT-A). This licensure must be continuously maintained and remain in good standing throughout the duration of employment.
- Knowledge of clinical supervision and management principles, along with familiarity with local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to the program area.
- Strong computer skills, including the ability to input data into electronic medical records systems and proficiency in using Microsoft Office products.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of mental illness, psychotropic medications, their uses, and typical side effects. Knowledge of mental Health Code and community resources.
- Ability to work cooperatively with a variety of professionals and non-professionals.
- Knowledge of assessment techniques, tools, and documentation requirements.
- Ability to prepare concise reports and communicate effectively.
- Knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses, psychological assessment, and treatment planning.
- Knowledge of individuals with mental illness. Good counseling skills. Computer literacy.
- In the course of being employed, understands, and implements trauma informed care practices.
- Demonstration of the clinical competencies required by agency-approved, standardized training.
- Computer literate
