The Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (MHID) is dedicated to helping the residents of Nueces County who are living with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. We serve over 10,000 people each year with psychiatric and behavioral health care outpatient services, counseling, training, employment assistance, housing support, homeless outreach, children's mental health care and more.

Hourly/Non-Exempt: $16.05
Full-Time, 40 Hour Work Week, Paid Bi-weekly

General Description

Performs entry-level administrative and technical work. Work involves assisting in the administration of the Human Resources department, ensuring compliance with state and federal law regulations, disseminating information, maintaining filing systems, and performing internal administrative support work. Manages the Center telephone system and greets walk-in customers presenting a customer service approach. Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative independent judgment. Understands that confidentiality is mandatory. Will be trained and will serve as the primary back-up to the Human Resources Assistant and be available to temporarily back up other positions in the department as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Six months of work experience as a human resources assistant, administrative assistant, technical assistant or in a similar position. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Graduation from a standard senior high school, or GED, is required. Must have a valid Texas Driver's License, valid liability insurance and a good driving record.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of the principles and practice of Human Resources. Demonstrates a clear understanding of confidentiality. Proficient skills in oral and written communications. Excellent skills in operating computer programs including Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Must be able to quickly learn the human resources related software application, eDatis. Must be able to perform multiple tasks and prioritize daily activities. Ability to communicate effectively, have excellent customer services skills, and excellent listing and comprehension skills. Must attend work as scheduled and be available to work overtime or weekends as needed. In the course of being employed, understands, and implements trauma informed care practices.
