The Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (MHID) is dedicated to helping the residents of Nueces County who are living with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. We serve over 10,000 people each year with psychiatric and behavioral health care outpatient services, counseling, training, employment assistance, housing support, homeless outreach, children's mental health care and more.

General
Description
Performs human resources management work. Works under close supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. Work involves administering or assisting in the administration of a human resources management program (recruitment and selection, compensation, classification, employee relations and engagement, and benefits). Prepares or revises job description and job postings. Prepares routine human resources correspondence and reports. Posts job vacancies, review employment applications, and screens applicants. Enters, updates, and retrieves information from various automated human resources and/or payroll systems. Process hiring processes from posting through onboarding in conjunction with respective departments. May assist with new employee orientation. answers basic human resources questions and resolves routine issues. Screens telephone calls and greets visitors to the department. Schedules required appointments for staff a required. Must be able to multi-task and act as backup to the other positions. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Six months of work experience as a human resources assistant, administrative assistant, technical assistant or in a similar position. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Graduation from a standard senior high school, or GED, is required. Supplemental courses in human resources processes are preferred. Must maintain a valid Texas Driver's License.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the principles and practices of human resources. Demonstrates a clear understanding of confidentiality. Proficient skills in oral and written communications. Excellent skills in operating computer programs including Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access. Ability to learn the human resources related software application, eDatis. Must be able to perform multiple tasks and prioritize daily activities. Ability to evaluate application qualifications, to analyze job requirements, to prepare job descriptions, and to communicate effectively. Must have excellent customer service skills, and excellent listening and comprehension skills. Attends work as scheduled and be available to work overtime or weekends as needed. In the course of being employed, understands and implements trauma informed care practices.
