The Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (MHID) is dedicated to helping the residents of Nueces County who are living with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. We serve over 10,000 people each year with psychiatric and behavioral health care outpatient services, counseling, training, employment assistance, housing support, homeless outreach, children's mental health care and more.

Hourly/Non-Exempt: $22.20
Full-Time, 40 Hour Work Week, Paid Bi-weekly
General Description
Performs complex case-management and competency restoration work: Responsible for the delivery of forensic case management and intensive rehabilitation services for eligible persons with mental illness and/of co-occurring disorders who are currently residing in Nueces County Jail
Will maintain frequent contact with clients, family members, and services providers that will assist in the establishment and maintenance of Jail Based treatment.
Will identify client's rehabilitation needs, utilizes established curricula, and provides the necessary instructions in teaching self-help, self-care or other skills according to the needs outlined in the client evaluations, which assist the client in attaining their optimum levels of independence.
Establishes and maintains open communication with the Restoration Services Manager pertaining to client treatment. Job requires some travel and flexible hours.
Education, Training, and Experience (including licensure and certification)
A minimum of a bachelor's or advance degree from an accredited college or university with a major in social, behavioral, or human services field including, but not limited to, psychology, social work, medicine, nursing, rehabilitation, counseling, sociology, human development, gerontology, educational psychology, and education.
2 years' experience in behavioral health services.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge and ability to work with people who have mental illness and are involved with the criminal justice system. Willingness to engage in self-reflective practices for the purposes of personal and professional growth under the general supervision of the Restoration Services Manager. Ability to contribute to program development (e.g. primarily marketing). Ability to engage in the establishment of collaborative relationships with criminal justice judiciary systems (e.g. the District Attorney's Office, Probation/Parole, judges, and attorney(s)). Ability to travel within Nueces County city limits and for training purposes outside of Nueces County. Working knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office Programs (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
