Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional IV Salary/Exempt: $54,833.14

Full-Time, 40 Hour Work Week, Paid Bi-weekly

General Description

Under the general supervision of the Intensive Services Supervisor, the Outpatient Biopsychosocial Intervention Lead (OBI Lead) performs senior-level work to promote outpatient Mental Health services for people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, their families, the community, and IDD service providers in the local service area. The Outpatient Biopsychosocial Interventions (OBI) Lead collaborates with appropriate LIDDA staff to identify children and adults who have IDD or who are presumed to have IDD and who also have a co-occurring mental health condition, substance use disorder, or behavior support needs. The OBI Lead will assist with establishing and operating a program which will expand access to outpatient mental health services for individuals with IDD and mental health needs. The OBI Lead will ensure the program offers cross-systems biopsychosocial approach, provides education and training to community mental health partners, offers collaborative care case management, and provides skills training for parents and support systems. The OBI Lead will also ensure provision of outpatient mental health services are occurring, that collaborative case service delivery of physical and behavioral health services for individuals with IDD are occurring, and that these are done so in compliance with the HHSC contract scope of work to prevent or reduce crisis amongst individuals served. The OBI Lead will provide services directly to assigned caseload and will also provide guidance and monitoring to all assigned supporting OBI staff. OBI Lead will evaluate services provided through the program and will escalate issues to the program supervisor as needed. The position will require the OBI Lead to conduct observations and assessments relevant to the program and provide recommendations and interventions to increase the probability of positive outcomes for the individual and their families.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum: (QIDP III) Must meet qualifications for a Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP) as defined by CFR 483.430 and the HHSC contract. Must have a Bachelor's or Advanced Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in social, behavioral, or human service field, including but not limited to psychology, social work, medicine, nursing, rehabilitation, counseling, sociology, human development, gerontology, educational psychology, and criminal justice, and at least one year of experience working with individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Must have reliable transportation. May use personal vehicle to conduct business. Must have a valid Texas driver's license at all times, liability insurance, and a driving record acceptable to the Center's insurance carrier

Preferred: (QIDP IV) Licensed psychologist, licensed psychological associate, licensed clinical social worker, licensed professional counselor, board certified behavioral analyst, licensed marriage and family therapist, or a licensure applicant with a temporary license as long as the applicant is fully licensed within six months after hire. Bilingual in Spanish and English.

  • Ability to assess individuals with IDD for mental health needs and mental health crisis
  • Ability to develop recovery plans
  • Ability to interpret and analyze data
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others to support needs of individuals
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and departmental and agency policies pertaining to crisis services, mental health services, and intellectual and developmental disabilities services
