Full-Time, 40 Hour Work Week, Paid Bi-weekly

General Description

Under the supervision of IDD Transitions Support Team Supervisor, this position performs advanced (senior-level) health services or social services consultative work. Work involves directing psychological activities and programs, conducting psychological evaluations, diagnosing clients, providing consultation and training on conducting sessions, and conducting psychological research. May plan, assign, and/or supervise the work others. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Work includes complying with all Medicaid, HHSC, and Joint Commission standards as well as other applicable standards as they arise.

Must have reliable transportation. May use personal vehicle to conduct business. Must have a valid driver's license at all times, liability insurance, and a good driving record.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be licensed as a psychologist by the State of Texas of a reciprocity state or meet criteria to be a Certified Authorized Provider for Determination of Intellectual Disabilities, as set forth by HHSC. Must have or be willing to obtain HHSC certification for completing Determinations of Intellectual Disability. Understands and implements trauma informed care practices.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of psychology, psychometrics, and physiological principles; of diagnostic criteria; and of psychological evaluation methods.
  • Skill in the use of psychological evaluation and assessment techniques, and in mediation procedures.
  • Ability to plan and direct psychological activities and research; to provide psychological counseling, to interpret diagnostic evaluations; to analyze behavior; to develop behavior modification and skill acquisition plans; and to communicate effectively.
  • In the course of being employed, understands and implements trauma informed care practices.
