The Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (MHID) is dedicated to helping the residents of Nueces County who are living with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. Full-Time, 40 Hour Work Week, Paid Bi-weekly

General Description
The Rehab Therapy Technician (RTT) II position performs entry-level rehabilitation therapy work, primarily providing rehabilitative services to clients with mental health impairments at Pathways Crisis Respite. Responsibilities include supervising clients and their activities, observing and reporting on client conditions and behaviors, and interacting with clients in a crisis residential manner. Additionally, the position entails communicating with collateral staff, managing unit conditions, and participating in required training programs. This position works autonomously, utilizing independent judgment, and communicates necessary information to appropriate staff. However, the RTT will work under close supervision with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The role offers flexible shifts and rotating schedules, which includes holidays and weekends. May use personal vehicle to conduct business.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid Texas Driver's License, liability insurance, and good driving record.

Preferred requirements:

  • Bilingual proficiency in both English and Spanish.
  • Experience in therapeutic work and providing therapeutic services to clients with mental health impairments and/or severe mental illness.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understands and implements trauma-informed care practices.
  • Knowledge of the therapeutic methods and techniques in the rehabilitation therapy area of specialization.
  • Ability to provide rehabilitative therapy.
  • Knowledge of client care techniques.
  • Demonstration of the clinical competencies required by agency-approved, standardized training(s).
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to participate as a team player.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
