The Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (MHID) is dedicated to helping the residents of Nueces County who are living with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. We serve over 10,000 people each year with psychiatric and behavioral health care outpatient services, counseling, training, employment assistance, housing support, homeless outreach, children's mental health care and more.

Hourly Wage: $15.39
Full-Time, 40 Hour Work Week, Paid Bi-weekly
General Description
Under the supervision of the TRR Director, the Certified Peer Specialist performs routine (journey-level) peer support work for individuals ages in the (assigned) program. Work involves observing interactions with persons served, and facilitating individual and group sessions. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Services are performed in the community, and in the homes the majority of the time, minimally in the office setting.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience in behavioral or intellectual challenges. Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is generally preferred.
Requires adult who has been diagnosed with a mental illness themselves.
Must be certified as a Peer Provider within 6 months of hire.
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
