The Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (MHID) is dedicated to helping the residents of Nueces County who are living with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. We serve over 10,000 people each year with psychiatric and behavioral health care outpatient services, counseling, training, employment assistance, housing support, homeless outreach, children's mental health care and more.

Salary: "Please note that the job posting rate for this position is $43,793.47 to $50,254.01 for the associate/intern level and $60,892.30 to $69,875.32 for full licensure, the salary offered will follow the starting salary guidelines which are typically made at or near the minimum of the salary range. However, a salary may be negotiated above the minimum range depending on applicable years of experience and qualifications."

General Description

Under the supervision of the TRR Director, An experienced Master's level clinician who is trained in working with individuals experiencing FEP. He or she will be the primary contact person for clients and families and will spearhead efforts to engage clients in treatment. The Team Leader's primary goals are to build a positive relationship with participants and assist them in developing their abilities for illness self-management. The Team Leader will work with participants using a shared decision-making process to develop and modify treatment plans. The Team Leader will provide support, education, consultation, and basic services to participants and their families. With younger individuals, work with families will be more

prominent since they play a pivotal role in the individuals' lives during adolescence and the first years of adulthood. The Team Leader will monitor, oversee, and supervise the team-based process.

The CSC Team Leader is responsible for the Coordinated Specialty Care Team which is an intensive rehabilitation program for eligible persons with severe and persistent mental illness. Consumer contact is frequent, sometimes daily, with individuals, family members, or service providers to maintain community integration. Provides 70% administrative and 30% direct client contact.  Assures Performance Contract targets are met, Community Standards are achieved, and Fidelity Model followed.  Ensures availability of services provided Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.

Supervises, trains, and consults with staff and maintains operating organizations.  Provides direct supervision to all team members and serves as the Team Leader to assure individuals served gain access to medical, social, vocational, and other needed services. Job requires travel, flexible hours, and a telephone. Works under moderate supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment     

Minimum Requirements

Minimum of a Master's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in counseling, social work, psychology or a field related to human behavior. Current licensure in Texas to provide counseling services (Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, etc. or Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, Licensed Clinical Social Worker Inter, Licensed Marriage Family Therapist Inter, etc.)

Experience in social and rehabilitative work. Ability to provide rehabilitative therapy and to communicate effectively.

Valid Driver's license and good driving record.

Reliable transportation.

Computer literate in word, excel, etc.

Good organizational skills

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Supervises direct care and support staff.
  • Designs and conducts training activities as needed.
  • Reviews staff performance to maintain compliance with applicable laws, agency polices and performance standards.
  • Contacts coordinating agencies to ensure continuity of services.
  • Assists in scheduling, oversight and evaluation of staff.
  • Assists in budget development and implementation.
  • Performs duties as required
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of clinical, management, and of local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to the program area;
  • Ability to establish goals and objectives, to devise solutions to administrative problems, to assist in the development and evaluation of administrative policies and procedures, to prepare concise reports, to interpret regulations, to communicate effectively, and to assign and supervise the work of others

  • In the course of being employed, understands and implements trauma informed care practices.
  • Must have reliable transportation. May use personal vehicle to conduct business. Must have a valid driver's license at all times, liability insurance and a good driving record.
