The Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (MHID) is dedicated to helping the residents of Nueces County who are living with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. We serve over 10,000 people each year with psychiatric and behavioral health care outpatient services, counseling, training, employment assistance, housing support, homeless outreach, children's mental health care and more.

Responsible for providing Adult Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) and Youth MHFA training, along with other approved courses, to public school district employees, public school resource officers, university employees, law enforcement staff and other participants as a preventative measure to assist in early identification of adult, or youth at risk of social-emotional disorders. Staff will be responsible for submitting monthly and quarterly reports and invoices to HHSC and working closely with the local Education Service Center. The primary focus will be to increase awareness of MHFA training, increase the number of MHFA training sessions available, and increase the number of overall trainings completed in the current fiscal year compared to the previous fiscal year. Staff must be able to pass MHFA certification within 90 days of employment. Works under the supervision of the Centers Youth Services Director.
Hourly/Non-Exempt: $24.90
Full-Time, 40 Hour Work Week, Paid Bi-weekly

Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of a bachelor's or advance degree from an accredited college or university with major in psychology, social work, medicine, nursing, rehabilitation, counseling, sociology, human growth and development, physician assistant, gerontology, special education, educational psychology, early childhood education or early childhood intervention. May use personal vehicle to conduct business. Must have a valid driver's license at all times. Liability insurance and a good driving record.
Preferred: Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Valid Texas Driver's license
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and basic computer skills
- Experienced in providing training and presentations
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to obtain and maintain MHFA certifications
- Ability to handle multiple tasks demands
- Ability to accurately collect and compile data
- Ability to interact, network and communicate with members of the community
