General Description
Performs entry level highway grounds maintenance work on
the Texas Department of Transportation Highway Litter Pickup contract for MHID
Advance Employment Services program. Work involves completing litter pickup,
debris and branch removal along major highways throughout the city and county. Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for
the use of initiative and independent judgment. Will drive truck and haul
debris. All phases of highway litter pickup maintenance are completed according
to the 'Scope of Work' of the contract.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED. Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing and to work assigned schedule. Must have reliable transportation with a valid Texas Driver's License at all times, liability insurance with a good driving record [ less than 3 points] at all times. Must operate center vehicle for conducting business. Must have a qualifying disability in order to meet the disabled labor definition for WorkQuest program.
Prefer: Individual currently in services at MHID. English and Spanish bilingual.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Skill in the use of hand tools and equipment and in the operation of
motorized vehicles and gas-powered equipment. Ability to maintain and care for
hand and power tools. Ability to work safely and follow all safety related
instructions. Able to work part-time assigned schedule.
